Zalgo Text Generator

A zalgo text generator stacks Unicode combining marks on top of ordinary letters so each glyph sprouts extra strokes above and below the baseline. The base character stays the same code point; the corruption is invisible mark code points layered on it. You copy the merged string into Discord, Reddit, or game chat when you want glitch or cursed text, not when you want readable body copy.

Zalgo breaks things. The meme comes from creepypasta about corrupted saints and broken text, but the mechanism is boring Unicode: marks from U+0300 through U+036F, extended ranges up to U+1AFF, supplement blocks, and symbol combiners through U+FE2F. Fonts render the stack as a vertical smear if they support mark positioning at all.

This tool skips spaces, tabs, and newlines so your paragraph doesn't turn into a collapsing tower of marks on blank lines. Intensity maps to mark counts per letter: level 1 adds zero to one mark, level 3 adds two to six, level 5 adds eight to twenty-five. Bidirectional mode splits marks above and below the base glyph. The randomizer is seeded from your input, so corrupted always glitches the same way until you change a letter.

Example: corrupted at intensity 3 becomes a tangled ribbon of strokes still spelling the word if you squint. At intensity 5, the same nine letters can sprawl taller than the chat box. That's the joke, and also the risk.

Enter text, set intensity from 1 to 5, toggle bidirectional marks if you want corruption above and below each letter, preview the glitch string, then copy. Spaces and line breaks stay clean. The tool stops at fifty thousand code points and warns you if it truncates.

1. Type the phrase you want to break. The demo uses corrupted so you see a short word fall apart immediately.
2. Pick intensity 1 for a light touch or 5 for maximum curse energy. Higher settings pull more marks per letter.
3. Leave bidirectional on unless you only want marks above or below the baseline.
4. Watch the preview wrap with overflow-wrap anywhere; long strings scroll inside the box.
5. Copy the output and paste into Discord, Reddit, or a status field, then check whether the app truncates or strips marks.

Intensity 1 and 2 keep strings small enough for bios and short jokes. Intensity 3 is the default meme setting. Intensity 4 and 5 belong in one-off messages where you accept truncation, mod warnings, or broken layout on phones. If you can't read your own preview, it's too high for anything you'd paste twice.

Zalgo survives where plain UTF-8 messages survive and where moderators tolerate layout abuse. Short lines work better than essays. Preview on the device your audience uses, because iOS and Android stack combining marks with different line height rules, and desktop Discord wraps differently than mobile.

Thirty letters clears five hundred code points.

Zalgo is a volume attack on character limits. Discord, SMS, and form fields measure the expanded string, not the five words you typed. Screen readers can't parse stacked marks at all: they announce each combining character, which turns a short joke into unusable audio. Don't paste zalgo into support tickets, checkout fields, or anyone else's display name without asking.

The tool hard-stops at fifty thousand code points and truncates with a visible warning. That ceiling protects your browser tab, not the person on the receiving end. You can still wreck a channel with far less.
