How to Write Your Name in Cursive (Step by Step)
Plenty of people never learned cursive at school, and then need it for a signature, a card or a wedding sign. The good news: your name is only a handful of letters, so you can learn it in an afternoon.
1. Choose a style you like
Type your name into the cursive name generator and compare twelve scripts. Casual styles like Dancing Script are easiest to copy; formal ones like Great Vibes take more practice.
2. Trace it
Download and print your favorite at a large size. Put tracing paper (or thin printer paper) on top and trace it five to ten times. You're teaching your hand the shapes and the order of strokes.
3. Master the capital
The first letter carries the whole name. Practice it on its own until it's consistent. Many people give it an extra loop or a longer entry stroke for personality.
4. Connect the lowercase
Cursive letters join with small connecting strokes. Write slowly at first and don't lift your pen inside the word. Speed comes later.
5. Turn it into a signature
Once it's comfortable, simplify. Real signatures drop details and add flair. Sign it twenty times and keep the version that feels natural.
